Understanding Existing Design & its Issues
We explored Hornsense, this cool app that sends back health metrics to its users! We mapped out its layout, information architecture, design consistency, etc.
We created a concept map - it's like making a treasure map to find your way around!

Secondary Research + Competitor Analysis
SECONDARY RESEARCH
It involved an extensive analysis of over 15 research articles and real-world data provided by the WCWH team, focusing on health factors such as sleep, mood, and physical activity. The goal was to understand how these factors interact with each other.
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Redesign
Information discovery was hard
We simplified navigation to enhance information scanning and incorporated accessible standards into the design.
User Base Data

User Interview Insights

Disorganized data made information access inefficient.
Restructured app's information architecture for improved experience using an affinity map, card sorting, and a similarity matrix. Finally redoing the information architecture.
New Concept Map

Similarity Matrix

Inconsistent design system hampers user experience, per research.
Developed a Visual Style Guide

Usability Testing Feedback
We conducted 1:1 user interviews and task-based testing on the prototype to identify pain points and improve navigability. Key functional improvements include:
Enhanced Information: Adding an "i" button for detailed metric information.
Tagged Information: Tagging data as good, fair, bad with status indicators.
Simplified Graphs: Simplifying graphs for easier comprehension.
Profile Privacy: Implementing a "view-only" mode for profile privacy.
Menu Optimization: Reorganizing the hamburger menu for better accessibility, like moving "Report a Bug" to the main menu.
